Iphone (or or simply with your smartphone) Filming without shaking and WITHOUT GIMBAL. It's possible!

Now that I have my Osmo Pocket, a camera with built-in stabilizer, I don't care about this topic of stabilizing my walk videos.

But you should know that I started my channel with my smartphone camera.

So we are going to look at how to make a stable video with your Iphone (or or simply with your smartphone) without having an equipment like gimbal or steadicam.

Don't have a tripod or gimbal and want to shoot without shaking?

Check out the very simple tips in this tutorial.

The purpose of this tutorial is to guide you through some easy practices when holding your device in your hand. While using a tripod is ideal for shooting without shaking, its use is still limited. Indeed, it is difficult to place your tripod in the middle of the guests of a wedding, or in other delicate situations to film fast scenes during a trip, a sports outing, or quite simply a week. -end with friends.

We will not be talking about digital stabilization which can be applied after filming, via software or via an application. This topic will be the subject of another Rushmix post shortly. The idea is that you can remember 4 golden rules:

Tip # 1: Use both hands for good footage

If it seems obvious to stabilize your camera, hold it well, and therefore film without shaking, you often tend to forget it.

Tip 2: Bring your arms closer to your body and make sure you are well anchored to the ground

Outstretched arms, like when filming in a concert, should be avoided and the goal is not to move too much. To shoot without shaking, keep in mind that it's the scenery that's in motion, not you.

Tip # 3: Make slow movements

Avoid abrupt or too fast movements as much as possible. Be Zen, film as if you were doing Yoga!

Tip 4: Use your body

When you turn your camera (your smartphone) you are not turning your hands or arms but your whole body. Your hands and arms should stay fixed!

Tip 5: Lean on a support

Indeed, it is ideal for filming without shaking. Whether it's a wall, a piece of furniture, or even a tree, leaning on will provide better stability.

Tip 6: Use a simple material, selfie stick for example

It is also possible to film without shaking while walking. This time you need a tripod, selfie stick, a GoPro pole or any other material on which you can mount your phone. The weight of a tripod, for example, acts as a pendulum. Its weight will help you absorb shocks and micro-vibrations. The idea is to use it as a Steadicam to make the camera feel like it is “floating” in the air. You now have the cards in hand to become a true shooting expert.
